History
Yoo Jin-Ho Raid Party Arc
While at the White Tiger Guild's main office, Ahn received a report that someone was using massive amounts of money to buy the rights to clear C-Rank dungeons. He learned that the source of the money was from Yoo Jinho, the young son of Yoo Myunghan. However his interested was piqued at hearing Sung Jinwoo and believed that there was an opportunity to be had.[1]
Ahn then began doing research into Jinwoo’s background, learning of the young hunter’s survival in several incidents. From the Double Dungeon, the annihilation of Hwang Dongsuk’s team, and also on involving a hunter from the surveillance who was an assassin. He pieced together that Jinwoo and Jinho met during the second incident. And from rumors he had heard that Jinho’s father was recruiting hunters of his own to create his own guild. As for why Jinwoo would associate with Jinho, the son of a powerful businessman, led Ahn to conclude that Jinwoo had recently undergone a Reawakening. Due to Jinwoo's uncanny survival through all those incidents, Ahn believed that Jinwoo underwent a Reawakening in the first incident, which explained how he managed to survive the second and third incidents, and suspected that the people who claimed responsibility for resolving them were in fact covering for Jinwoo
Ahn shared his suspicions with his assistant, Hyun Kichul who agreed with his superior's assessment. The two then went on a scouting mission to see Jinwoo. Ahn and Hyun arriving at one of the Gates where Jinwoo and Jinho had reserved were met by a sight of several hunters lazing about. Ahn questioned the people present wanting to get to the bottom of why the were not in the dungeon conducting a raid. However when they refused to answer his questions, Ahn guessed Jinwoo and Jinho were personally clearing Gates, thus confirming his thoughts on Jinwoo and that he was top class hunter.
Ahn first appeared to try and recruit Jinwoo for the White Tiger Guild, offering twice what Yoojin Construction was offering. Though to his his surprise Jinwoo expressed interest in White Tiger's building price.[2]
He was shocked that Yoojin Construction offered Jinwoo a building of 30 billion won and that the White Tiger Guild could offer him their building which was worth 50 billion won. Seeing that Jinwoo was not bluffing, Ahn still needed to speak to his superiors on negotiating a deal like this. Jinwoo then ended the discussion seeing that there was nothing to talk about, however before he left, he intimidated Ahn into revealing how he found about him. Ahn seeing that Jinwoo had camouflaged himself before him and even cut his cheek, it confirmed his suspicions that Jinwoo had experienced a reawakening. Ahn explained how he logically came to the conclusion to Jinwoo, citing the background check he did and thoroughly investigated the reports of the three previous incidents Jinwoo was involved in. So far only he and Hyun knew about Jinwoo.
And seeing that Jinwoo did not want this to be revealed, Ahn promised to keep it quite to avoid angering the hunter. Though there was still an issue with Jinwoo and Jinho taking all the C-Rank dungeons from the White Tiger Guild. Ahn explained that they needed those Gates so to train their hunter recruits. A one-time deal was then brokered between them, Jinwoo would sell the three C-Rank Gates he and Jinho reserved, each for 300 million won. Ahn though found the price outrageous and suggested a price for 200 million won, which was accepted. As a small gift and a show of trust, Jinwoo gave Ahn a Healing Potion, which healed his cut. After Jinwoo left, Hyun arrived to see what happened, only for Ahn to tell him that he suspected that th ehunter was even stronger than they thought.
Shortly after Ahn wired the money to Jinwoo, Ahn received an alert at his office that the guild now had a surplus of C-Rank Gates in their territory all going for 10 million won or less. It turns out that Jinho ha never reserved any raids for the future, meaning Ahn had been played from the start. He also received a text message from Jinwoo stating that this was a punishment for running a background check on him and that things were even. Ahn rather than being angry at being scammed was rather impressed by the action.
Despite this setback, however, Ahn refused to give up and dedicated himself to recruiting Jinwoo for his guild at all costs especially since he got Jinwoo's contact number from his message.[3]
Trivia
- In the Japanese version of the anime, Ahn's name is changed to Koshiro Shishido (宍戸耕史郎)
