The Black Tortoise Guild is a fairly large Hunters guild in South Korea in the revised timeline. And while it did not have a prestigious reputation like the White Tiger Guild or Fiend Guild, it is still a large guild well known in Korea. The guild has a rivalry with the White Tiger Guild in the new timeline. And while the public derived their names from the Four Guardian Beasts, in truth the guild’s name of 'Black Tortoise' wasn't even from the Four Guardian Beasts, but just taking 'Hyunmoo' – (Korea word for black turtle-snake) from the name of Hyeonmoo Gang, the guild master.

Trivia

• In the novel the Black Tortoise Guild was the first guild that tried to recruit Sung Suho after he first awakened as an E-Rank Hunter. Though he declined to remain freelance. Later after it was reported he assisted the White Tiger Guild and was now a C-Rank Hunter, the guild tried recruiting him yet again this time the guild’s scouts harassing Suho outside his home and using drones to spy on him. Later the Black Tortoise tried to gain endorsement from Ahjin Soft to be part of its game project. After learning Suho was the nephew of Yoo Jinho, the guildmaster attempted to ingratiate himself with the hunter, though when Suho mentioned about the drones sent by the Black Tortoise Guild, this angered Jinho who then blacklisted the guild. This would cause some members of the guild to hold a grudge against Suho and without approval from the guildmaster, attempted to kill Suho. Though the attempt ended in failure with all members who tried to Suho being killed. Though in the end the black listing was removed from the guild by Jinho in order to get five S-Rank representatives approval to allow his nephew to conquer the North Korea field dungeons.
