Chapter 28 (28장) is the twenty-eigth chapter of the Solo Leveling webtoon series written by Chu-Gong and illustrated by Dubu.
Summary[]
At Song Chi-Yul's kumdo dojo, while training his students, Chi-Yul receives an urgent raid notification. When a student suggests he should consider retirement due to his age and the loss of an arm, Chi-Yul acknowledges these limitations but insists on using the strength he has left to continue contributing to society.
As he heads to the raid, Song reflects on the irony that despite his lifetime of training as a swordsman, his awakening as a mage rendered his sword skills ineffective. However, he believes there must be a reason for this twist of fate. During his walk, Song spots Jinwoo and is shocked by how much he has changed. The once gentle-looking boy now seems transformed. As they reconnect, Song is astonished to see that Jinwoo's leg, which had been severed during their last encounter, is now fully reattached, thanks to the System.
At the raid's gate, Song is surprised by the coincidence of reuniting with fellow survivors from the Double Dungeon incident — Kim Sangshik, Kang Jeongho, and Lee Joohee. The mood becomes tense as Kim and Jeongho, haunted by the memory of abandoning Jinwoo, avoid eye contact, showing their guilt and remorse. In contrast, Joohee is visibly joyful, finding comfort in seeing Jinwoo again after their shared ordeal.
Their unexpected reunion is interrupted by the arrival of the rest of the strike team, including three C-Rank hunters in handcuffs. These hunters, who are convicted criminals, are part of a "Substitute Hunter" program allowing them to participate in raids to reduce their prison sentences. Overseeing them is Kang Taeshik, a B-Rank hunter from the Hunter's Association, responsible for ensuring they follow orders during the raid. The urgency and shortage of available hunters have forced the Association to adopt this method.
