Summary[]
The Battle and the Flashback[]
Kim Chul and the rest of the hunters brace themselves as the tension in the Red Gate remains high. But before things progress further, a flashback takes us back to the Double Dungeon Incident—a defining moment for Jinwoo. In the eerie, ancient chamber where everything first began, the ground trembles, and a deep rumbling echoes throughout the room. All the surviving hunters turn their eyes to the center, where the massive stone statue that had loomed over them now conjures a large cylindrical structure from the ground.
Jinwoo, already more perceptive than the others, quickly identifies it as an altar—an ancient construct meant for sacrifices. His realization sends a shiver down his spine, and the weight of what they had walked into that day feels even heavier. Sangshik breaks the silence by suggesting that Chi-Yul take responsibility for the fallen. Jinwoo, however, internally reflects that the tragedy was not the fault of just one person—it was a group decision to move forward into the dungeon, and blame shouldn’t fall solely on Chi-Yul. Nevertheless, Chi-Yul, filled with remorse and duty, steps forward without hesitation. As he approaches the altar, a sudden burst of blue flames ignites, illuminating the chamber in an eerie glow…
Back in the Red Gate: Jinwoo’s Unmatched Strength[]
Meanwhile, within the deadly Red Gate, Jinwoo reassures his younger sister, Jinah, before sternly telling everyone never to question him or his identity. The others, still shaken by the overwhelming dangers lurking in this icy landscape, remain silent but deeply curious.
As they continue their journey, the group suddenly encounters a single massive Ice Bear. Unlike before, where multiple creatures had attacked at once, this time, only one stands in their path—but its presence alone is enough to instill fear among the weaker hunters. Park Heejin instinctively prepares to assist, but Jinwoo raises a hand, signaling her to stay back.
The Ice Bear lets out a deafening roar and charges directly at Jinwoo. But instead of evading or drawing a weapon, Jinwoo stands still, his eyes locked onto the beast. As the moment of impact nears, he suddenly activates the title “Wolf Slayer,” enhancing his stats even further. Just as the beast lunges—Jinwoo jumps.
With a single motion, he punches the Ice Bear square in the head, sending shockwaves through the air. The sheer force of the blow crushes the bear’s skull in an instant, and the towering beast collapses in one hit. The other hunters stare in absolute disbelief. Silence follows, broken only by the soft thud of the defeated creature. But Jinwoo? Without a hint of concern, he calmly sits on the bear’s massive back as if it were a mere bench.
Outside the Red Gate: Hwang Dongsoo’s Growing Suspicion[]
On the other side of the gate, Hwang Dongsoo, the infamous S-rank American Hunter, watches the Red Gate intently. His sharp eyes gleam with curiosity as he crosses his arms. He speaks to himself, voicing a thought that has been lingering in his mind for a while: His words carry a hint of intrigue and hunger for knowledge, but more than that, his interest in Jinwoo has begun to take shape.
A Night by the Campfire – Jinwoo’s Training[]
Back inside the frozen wasteland, the group rests around a campfire, warming themselves with the flames and the freshly roasted Ice Bear meat. Despite their situation, Hunters Yoon Ki-Joong, Go Myung-Hwan, and Park Heejin find comfort in the warm meal, joking amongst themselves as they eat. Han Song-Yi, still adjusting to this bizarre reality, enjoys the food as well.
Jinwoo, too, partakes in the meal, but his mind is elsewhere. Despite the temporary peace, he knows his training and quests do not stop. Even inside a dungeon, the system still expects him to grow. Finishing his portion, he quietly steps away from the fire and begins his personal training session.
Jinwoo’s Solo Training – A New Challenge Appears[]
Removing his jacket, Jinwoo begins his routine. His body, sculpted by countless battles and training sessions, moves with precision as he executes push-ups, sit-ups, and other exercises in the freezing cold. The biting wind doesn’t bother him—his resistance and endurance are far beyond that of a normal human now. Each movement increases his strength, and with every rep, he can feel the System responding. Then—a noise.
Jinwoo halts, his sharp instincts kicking in. A low growl. His eyes shift toward the distance, scanning the darkened, snow-covered terrain. There, emerging from the shadows—a cave. The entrance is partially concealed by icicles and frozen formations, but from within, Jinwoo senses movement. Suddenly, glowing eyes pierce through the darkness. One pair. Then two. Then ten. Then twenty. Jinwoo’s lips curl into a smirk as dozens of Ice Bears begin to step out of the cave, their breath fogging up in the cold air. The ground trembles slightly as the massive creatures march forward, their hulking forms casting long shadows in the moonlight. He had been looking for a real challenge. And now, it had come straight to him.
