While spending time in the forest, Jinwoo leads the attack team when the dungeon boss, an Ice Elf named Baruka, appears with a group of its kin. Summary

"Hwang Dongsoo. Take your hands off him."
Inside the red gate, Sung Jinwoo stands victorious amidst the lifeless ice bears he has defeated. With a wave of his hand, their shadows rise, bolstering his ever-growing army. Meanwhile, outside the gate, only three hours have passed. Hwang Dongsoo, itching to confront Jinwoo, is frustrated by the delay. Discovering a connection between Jinwoo and Manager Ahn, Hwang turns his rage toward the latter. However, Baek Yoonho intervenes before any harm can be done, unleashing his claws as energy crackles between the two S-Rank hunters. A fierce clash begins as their blows send shockwaves through the air.
Back within the snowy expanse of the red gate, A-Rank hunter Kim Chul is teetering on the brink of madness, consumed by despair as he wanders alone. Stumbling across the ice bears' butchered remains, he flees in terror, convinced they were victims of the dreaded ice elves.
Outside the gate, Woo Jinchul intercepts the S-Rankers’ clash before their attacks can land. Despite Hwang’s anger, Woo asserts that Jinwoo was evaluated as an E-Rank. Skeptical, Hwang shifts his suspicions to Yoo Jinho but concedes—only temporarily—and leaves, driven more by his thirst for violence than any real evidence.

Song-Yi clinging to Heejin out of fear.
Elsewhere in the red gate, the low-rank hunters revel in the warmth of their camp fire, enjoying a hearty meal. When Kim Chul discovers them, his shock turns to rage. Unable to fathom their survival while his comrades perished, he lashes out at them, drawing his sword threatening to kill unless he gets a confession from them. Before he can act, Jinwoo emerges from the shadows and effortlessly knocks him unconscious. Jinwoo’s focus, however, is on a far more dangerous threat: the invisible ice elves lurking nearby.
The elves' leader reveals himself, taunting Jinwoo. The hunters, Park Heejin and Han Song-Yi, are stunned to hear Jinwoo responding in the monsters' own tongue—a surprise to Jinwoo as well. After dispatching a challenging ice elf with one swift strike, Jinwoo learns a chilling truth: all magic beasts are driven by an instinct to kill humans, except when it comes to him. This revelation stirs questions about the mysterious system that guides him.

Barca the leader of Ice Elves.
The leader, Barca, offers a sinister truce: the safety of the remaining hunters in exchange for their surrender. Jinwoo refuses, summoning his shadow army to begin an all-out battle. As the other hunters take cover, Jinwoo realizes Barca is a foe far beyond the strength of ordinary summons. A duel between them begins in a flurry of blinding strikes.

Jinwoo arises Kim Chul as his Shadow.
In the chaos, Kim Chul regains consciousness and foolishly chooses this moment to attack Jinwoo. Before he can make his move, Igris strikes him down, and Jinwoo extracts Chul’s shadow. The transformation births Iron, a towering, intimidating shadow warrior whose loyalty to Jinwoo is sealed. Despite Iron’s lack of intelligence, he proves invaluable in the fight against Barca, joining forces with Jinwoo and Igris.

Jinwoo and Igris attack Barca together.
The three attack with relentless coordination. Jinwoo’s stealth and agility, Igris’s precision, and Iron’s brute force begin to wear Barca down. In the climax, Jinwoo distracts Barca with a returning dagger, giving Iron the opportunity to restrain him. With brutal efficiency, Iron slams a massive warhammer onto Barca, ensuring victory.
As the battle ends, the low-rank hunters breathe a sigh of relief, their ordeal finally over. Outside, Baek Yoonho and Manager Ahn witness the gate reverting to its blue hue. To their amazement, it isn’t Kim Chul who emerges but the surviving low-rank hunters—including Jinwoo. Ahn, unfazed, admits he never doubted Jinwoo’s survival, while Yoonho is left grappling with the grim reality of Chul’s death.
Yoonho confronts Jinwoo for answers but is met with calm defiance. Jinwoo points out that Yoonho should be thankful for the hunters’ lives he did save. Chastened, Yoonho apologizes. As Jinwoo departs with Song-Yi, Yoonho urges Ahn to do whatever it takes to recruit the mysterious hunter.
Walking home, Jinwoo reflects on the red gate’s challenges. While Barca’s weapon is a prize, it doesn’t ease the weight of taking a human life—a burden he’s now endured three times. Morning brings a fresh start, with Yoo Jinho arriving in polished new armor, ready for their next adventure. To Jinho’s surprise, Song-Yi has decided to join them, marking the start of another eventful day.

- In the Manhwa, Kim Chul tries to attack Jinwoo by surprise, while in the anime, Kim Chul charges at Jinwoo screaming, clearly showing his intent.
- Igris kills Kim Chul by stabbing him from below vertically in the Manhwa, whereas in the anime, Igris stabs him straight horizontally from the ground.
- In the Manhwa, Iron celebrates victory with the Shadow Knights, but in the anime, he celebrates with the Shadow Mages instead.
- Han Song-Yi's fashion style changes in the anime when Jinwoo picks her up. Her clothes, makeup, and hair in the anime are distinctly different from the Manhwa.
