Kenzo Tanaka (타나카 켄죠) was a Japanese S-Rank Hunter who specialized in melee combat and a member of the Draw Sword Guild.
Appearance
Kenzo was a muscular young man with sharp brown hair and numerous scars on his upper body, the most distinctive one being the large cross-shaped scar along the right side of his face.
In his first appearance, he wore a simple gray muscle shirt. During the Jeju Island Raid, he wore a modified version of his guild's standard battle uniform that exposed his upper body.
Personality
Kenzo loved to fight and had a bit of a berserker personality, as displayed when he went off on his own during the 4th Jeju Island Raid and mercilessly slaughtered every ant in his way. He also had a good relationship with Akari, his guild's main healer, who frequently teased him during their raids and forced him to pay her for her healings.
History
Four days before the 4th Jeju Island Raid was slated to take place, Kenzo met up with the rest of the Jeju Island Raid Party in the Korean Hunters Gym. He participated in the 4v4 sparring match between the two teams and faced off against Ma Dongwook, easily defeating him by drilling him into the ground.[1]
During the 4th Jeju Island Raid, Kenzo was grouped with Akari and Tatsumi in Team Charlie. Unwilling to wait for his orders, he charged headfirst into a horde of ants and slaughtered them all, but not before getting cut along his collarbone and his left hip. Wanting to get healed before he had another go at it, Kenzo regrouped with the other two hunters and asked Akari to heal him. Much to his dismay, however, she teased him and said that she would only do so if he gave her something in return.
Seeing another swarm of ants flying towards them, Kenzo asked Akari as to what she wanted from him, but she was beheaded by the Ant King before she could answer. Horrified, Kenzo attempted to attack the Ant King himself to no avail, as the monster beheaded him too before he could even throw a punch.[2]
Abilities
As a hunter whose abilities were recognized by Goto Ryuji, Kenzo was quite strong for a S-Rank.
- Enhanced Strength: Kenzo possessed great physical strength, as displayed by how he was able to easily overpower both Ma and Baek during their sparring matches, and slaughter hundreds of ants on his own during the 4th Jeju Island Raid while taking minimal damage in return.
Etymology
- The name Kenzo means "wise" (賢) (ken) and "three" (三) (zo).
- Kenzo's surname Tanaka means "field, rice paddy" (田) (ta) and "middle" (中) (naka), which literally means "dweller in the rice fields" altogether.
