He is known to be emotional at times, even moved to tears. Jaehyuk takes pride in his role as a C-Rank Hunter. Despite receiving offers from many prestigious guilds, he chose to join the Korean Hunters Association, feeling that the recognition alone was an honor.

History[]

After the Cataclysm, Jaehyuk joined the Korean Hunter Association. He became a junior of Kim Chul who he developed a great respect for.[1][2]

Hunter Awakening Arc[]

Three days after a field dungeon suddenly appeared at the Hankuk University Art Museum—and was swiftly cleared by a newly Awakened Hunter named Sung Suho—Han Jaehyuk and his team visited Suho in the hospital to thank him emotionally for saving the people at the museum. During the visit, Han explained that he had come to assess Suho’s rank, as the media was eager to learn more about the new Hunter. Han personally conducted the evaluation and determined that Suho was an E-Rank. While his team expressed disappointment at the low ranking, Han Jaehyuk still found Suho admirable for his courage in risking his life and successfully fighting off the magic beasts.[3]

Seoul Station Field Arc[]

After the destruction of the base of the Hyena Guild, Han Jaehyuk led an investigation team from the Association to investigate how the guild was involved in the Stardust trade. From Jaehyuk's investigation a ledger was found, confirming that the Hyena Guild was indeed responsible for distributing Stardust and using it to hook Hunters to use it to strengthen themselves in order to clear higher dungeons. Jaehyuk and his team though found that the ledger contained the names of Hunters who bought Stardust from the guild bit also were crossed off and reported missing. Oddly the entries into the ledger indicated that everyone someone on the ledger vanished the guild somehow obtain a large amount of Stardust to sell. The investigator came to the conclusion that the Hyena Guild were trading humans for Stardust, but was confused on why people were being used as medium of trade instead of money.

Shortly later Jaehyuk received news that the Stardust Factory was located at the Seoul Station Field. By the time he and his team arrived, they everything already resolved and over. From the testimonies of the survivors and the Hunters who rescued them, the Team Leader and his people learned that demons were involved in the production of Stardust. Not only that someone was still fighting in the Dungeon against the demons according to one of the Hunters, Lim Do-Gyu.

Jaehyuk assure the assistant teacher that he would save his friend, Sung Suho, and as he readied his men to head into the dungeon to assist Suho, he asked Do-Gyu on what rank Suho was and was dismally disappointed to hear that his friend was just a E-Rank Collector.

Upon entering the field dungeon, Jaehyuk and his men encountered Suho and the recently Shadow Brocky. Suho was mistaken for a demon as he was wearing the Crow Mask and was attacked by Jaehyuk while the rest of the Association Hunters fought Brocky. Having no choice but to defend himself, Suho fought Jaehyuk. And despite the young Hunter suppressing his power, he still managed to overpower the C-Rank Hunter by embedding him into a wall and causing him to faint from the blow. His show of force was enough to make the Association Hunters stop fighting and listen to him explain the situation.[4]

By the time Jaehyuk woke up, he was in a hospital bed. Confused on his surroundings he asked a subordinate on why he was admitted to a hospital and to his shock was told that he fainted after being hit with one punch. Thinking it was due to the crow masked demon he was fighting, he was soon told that was indeed the Hunter that the team had come to rescue and told him that it was a simple misunderstanding. Still upon learning that Suho claimed to be a E-Rank summoner, Jaehyuk grew perplexed on how strong Suho was. He did not think Suho was just a E-Rank given his power, and when he learned he was the Sung Suho who he recently measured when he awakened. Thinking perhaps the measurement was wrong, Jaehyuk accepted his loss and was eager to get to the bottom of Suho's newfound power, looking forward to what kind of Hunter he would become.[5]

Retesting Rank Arc[]

Jaehyuk and his team would arrive at the Paju Field, a dungeon reserved for the Fiend Guild, after Baek Miho of the White Tiger Guild delivered a member of the Hyena Guild who after being interrogated revealed that Lee Minsung was secretly building a Stardust Lab at the Paju Industrial Complex. Before calling for reinforcements, Jaehyuk wanted to gather physical evidence and so led his team of five into searching the area. They discovered several kidnapped people held in a container, among them Oh Seonjoo. Seeing that the area was being flooded by Blue Mist and the civilians were being at risk of turning into Mist Burns, Jaehyuk prioritized evacuating the civilians. As his team were using Stealth to avoid detection, the plan was to silently open the prison door and include all civilians in the skill and escape outside the facility where they would have a better chance to hide from the kidnappers.

Jaehyuk had just managed to break the lock when they were attacked from behind by Park Jongcheol. Before Jaehyuk and his team could retaliate, Park Jongcheol used a child as a hostage to force the Association Hunters to surrender. Undoing their skills at Park Jongcheol's order, Jaehyuk and his team were helpless to stop Jongcheol from harming the child, until an unseen attacker began to dismember the Hunter.[6]

The attack was from a being known as Crow Mask identity, who was really Suho, though the screaming from Jongcheol attracted the attention of more corrupt members of the Fiend Guild in the facility. Crow Maskhad Jaehyuk and his people stay with the hostages in the crate as it was a better defensible position. Once the crate door was sealed by Arachne, Crow Mask left the protection of the hostages to Jaehyuk as he went to confront the Fiend Guild Hunters in Lee Minsung’s pocket. From the safety of the crate, Jaehyuk witnessed Crow Mask transform into a beastly humanoid who then began tearing apart the criminals.

Jaehyuk’s team watching with him thought it was similar to Baek Yoonho’s beast transformation, though the team leader noted there was a difference in power. And when one of the Association Hunter mentioned hearing the Beast King Crow inheriting the Beast King power at the Magic Field, Jaehyuk realized that Beast King Crow and Suho were one and the same.[7]

While watching the slaughter, by Crow Mask and Arachne, some of the Association Hunters expressed fear towards him, wondering if he was really human. Jaehyuk came to Suho’s defense by claiming such bloodlust and loss of rationality was normal among those with Beast Transformation skills.

Later the B-Rank tanker Kwak Dooyoung joined the fray by attacking the crate containing the hostages and Association Hunters, Jaehyuk stepped up to defend the crate by using Iron Wall to prevent Dooyoung from crushing everyone inside. He bought enough time for Suho to focus his attention on the tanker and kill him.[8]

After reinforcements from the Association arrived to arrested the surviving members of the Fiend Guild running the Stardust Lab, Jaehyuk hurriedly transported all the hostages to the hospital. Afterwards he returned to the Stardust Lab to conduct a thorough search to seize all the evidence. Jaehyuk then approached Suho asking if he could have a few words. And while Suho was willing to talk, he suddenly had to leave due to an emergency. As Suho left Jaehyuk tried to ask for the Hunter to stay, offering a reward, but Suho had left. Though his words did not escape Beru, who appeared and grabbed Jaehyuk by the collar to make the Association agent hand over the reward,[9]

Pyramid Arc[]

Due to the evidence collected by the Association, Lee Minsung was officially declared a wanted Villain. Jaehyuk led his team in the search to apprehend the A-Rank Hunter. Give their quarry was no pushover, Jaehyuk requested aid from the Korean military to evacuate civilians and block all possible escape routes. The Team Leader raided Lee Minsung's residence, only to find it vacant. Jaehyuk then realized that Lee Minsung planned to escape overseas then ordered his people to check all the CCTVs and black boxes to locate the Villain.[10]

Times Square Field Arc[]

While Jaehyuk was initially tracking Lee Minsung, he received orders from the higher ups at the Association of a new crisis. That dozens of Villains were attacking civilians. Jaehyuk and his team were mobilized to contain the violence. At the scene Jaehyuk realized that the Villains were human but some sort of mutants. His team who were struggling to help evacuate the civilians found themselves slowly being overrun by the monsters. Though to Jaehyuk's relief they were saved by members of the Fiend Guild under the leadership of Lim Tae-Gyu.[11] And was left in awe at the skills of the Hunters as they pinned the mutants to the ground.[12]

Preparation Arc[]

At the time of the notorious Thomas Andre, and with his aide Laura arriving in Seoul, Jaehyuk and his team waited for him at the airport. Due to him being an S-Rank Hunter and crossing international borders without permission Jaehyuk informed Thomas that he was in breach of international law. While Jaehyuk was terrified of the powerful Hunter, he stood his ground. However his words meant little to Thomas who casually ignored him as he proceeded to take a taxi to seek out Sung Suho.[13]

Jaehyuk would later tail the foreigners to Suho’s residence. From afar he and his team watch both Thomas and Suho meet each other though were relieved to see things remain non-hostile.

After the Americans returned for a second visit to the C-Rank Hunter’s residence they found he was absent. Thomas already knowing Jaehyuk was following him and Laura called him out from the shadows to demand to know where Suho’s whereabouts. Jaehyuk informed the S-Rank Hunter that the young man was heading to the Hunter market in Euljiro.

Jaehyuk and his team escorted Thomas and Laura there via a car prepared by the Association. Upon arriving at Euljiro they found the place was in the middle of a dungeon break. Though they found that the dungeon break was already being resolved by the nearby Hunters with the boss the Blue Venom-Fanged Kasaka having been defeated.[14]

Jisan Prison Break Arc[]

After Suho’s return from overseas in Facade, Jaehyuk approach him and his uncle Yoo Jinho at the airport. The Team Leader was glad that Suho had returned to Kore, worried that Suho had joined the Scavenger Guild. But seeing him back in Korea realized his fears were unfounded.[15]

He then informed Suho of the pressing situation of the 500 escaped Villains of Jisan Prison. As the Association was understaff to recapture and deal with the mass escape, other guilds were being reached out for cooperation.

For Suho, Jaehyuk offered the temporary title of Association-Certified Bounty Hunter which would give the young Hunter authority to enter the territories of other guilds. After Suho accepted the title, Jaehyuk provided him with all the basic details on the Villains he would be hunting.[16]

Black Market Arc[]

The Team Leader would receive a call from Suho about serious allegations of the Manager Min Dae-Seok being corrupt was covering up a large scale illicit market in his branch jurisdiction. He would arrive with his team at the Yangpyeong branch where he found all its staff forced to be confined in their offices by a woman named Arsha who informed Jaehyuk on the situation on Suho’s behalf. Jaehyuk was disgusted that such a thing was happening right beneath the Association’s nose. Then there was the matter of the Starpiece necklaces that were in circulation, which were used as entry passes into the Black Market. However after being pressed by Arsha on how he could not remove his own necklace due to being under its influence, and after Arsha ripped it off his neck, he finally realized that nefarious implications of the necklaces. And after being told by Arsha that the artifacts were tools of the Outer God Cult, the mention of the cult made Jaehyuk recall his senior who originally was the former branch manager at Yangpyeong. And how he suddenly quit his job after joining the cult.[1] While thinking about Kim Chul, Jaehyuk recalled how his senior was always disappointed of his posting at Yangpyeong as it was too peaceful for his talents.[2]

Jaehyuk mobilized the Association and its forces to the Yangpyeong branch to attack the Black Market after being notified of its existence. However Suho informed him that he already taken care of the ringleaders of the Black Market, killing most of the demons and capturing the Hunters who were using the market for profit. All that was left for the Association was to arrest the criminals and fine them.

Given that it was the Association being partly responsible for allowing the Black Market to exist no thanks to the corrupt Yangpyeong branch manager, Suho expressed he had little trust and faith in the Association as they were always a step behind in these incidents. To repair some damage between Suho and the Association Jaehyuk offered to hand over all the Starpieces and Stardust necklaces that the Association confiscated at the Black Market. This satisfied Suho as he intended to use the material to exchange it for gold in the System.[17]

North Korea Arc[]

During the reveal to the public that Sung Suho was Cha Hae-In’s child, Jaehyuk interrupted the reunion between son and mother. He formally asked if Hae-In could be evaluated so that her Hunter Rank could be registered. Due to Hae-In high popularity as a former Olympic gold medalist and also apparently being a powerful for Hunter, riding a dragon, and in front of the media, Jaehyuk tried to be as polite as possible to avoid a backlash against the Association.
