| Overview |
Kargalgan (칼갈간) was a high orc shaman and the boss of the Hunters Guild Gate. Following his death, he was turned into a shadow soldier under Jinwoo's command and given the name Tusk.
Appearance
As a high orc, Kargalgan had bright red skin, glowing red eyes, and gray hair. Unlike the rest of his kind, however, he had an array of neon teal tattoos covering his face, hands, and wrists and wore a tattered brown hooded cloak, a grayish-white face mask that only exposed his eyes and lower jaw, a necklace made of human skulls, and red armored shoulder guards.
Personality
Kargalgan looked down on the humans, viewing them no less than insects. He also derived pleasure from violence, as demonstrated when he invited Son Kihoon and his strike team to his castle to provide himself and his soldiers entertainment until the dungeon break occurred. However, when Jinwoo revealed and showcased his strength, he lost his composure and became fearful, realizing that Jinwoo was actually a Monarch.
History
Kargalgan, along with the majority of the soldiers of the Monarchs, took part in their leaders’ war against the Rulers and was eventually taken capture along the High Orcs under his command. Brainwashed by the Rulers, the High Orc shaman and his soldiers would continue to wait until the day of release and see their wait ended when dropped into the human world.
Hunters Guild Gate Arc
Sensing the Hunters Guild's raid team entering the Dungeon, Kargalgan would send out a contingent of his forces to greet them. Using telepathy, he took over the mind of a soldier and communicate through the high orc soldier. He would give them two options and once accepted, Kargalgan revealed his intent to Ki-Hoon and the rest of his squad.
Taking delight in tormenting Ki-Hoon with his spells, the shaman would then command his forces to annihilate every Hunter when Jinwoo intervened to save the human. Anger turned into confusion and shock when he saw Jinwoo effortlessly sent one of his elite guards flying into the cave ceilings.
Kargalgan and his forces ended up facing Jinwoo and his soldiers where the high orc shaman grew fearful upon realizing his enemy could be a potential Monarch. In a futile act of desperation, Kargalgan put up a fight but ultimately lost where he would eventually be extracted as a Shadow Soldier and renamed as Tusk.
Abilities
As the boss of a top-tier A-Rank dungeon, Kargalgan was about as strong as the average S-Rank. He was also very proficient in the use of magic spells and was able to seemingly use them without limit.
- Enhanced Strength: As a High Orc, Kargalgan is physically strong and under the effects of Hymm of Giant, was able to create massive craters in the ground with his bare hands and in his final moments, was able to fight against the Shadow High Orcs on equal grounds before getting overwhelmed.
- Barrier Magic: Kargalgan was able to create massive energy barriers. One such barrier was so powerful that even a group of A-Rank mages were unable to dispel it.
- Conversation: Kargalgan was able to speak human languages.
- Fear: Kargalgan could strike fear in hunters, freezing them in place with just a glance, as demonstrated against the Hunters Guild Team B. This effect was so potent that it could be felt by Woo Jinchul even though he was outside the gate at the time. The effect felt as though the entire body was being ripped to pieces, but in reality, it was only an illusion.
- Gravitation Magic: Kargalgan was able to levitate a target and control their movement in the air as he wished. He generally used this spell to toss his enemies around until their bodies ruptured from the repeated strain.
- Hymn of Agony: Kargalgan was able to curse a target with intense pain.
- Hymn of Blindness: Kargalgan was able to blind a target.

- Hymn of Frenzy: Kargalgan was able to weaken a target's defense, increasing the amount of damage they took in battle.
- Hymn of Giants: Kargalgan was able to grow drastically in size using mana.
- Hymn of Lethargy: Kargalgan was able to petrify a target in place.
- Hymn of Protection: Kargalgan was able to conjure a blue shield around himself.

- Hymn of Slumber: Kargalgan was able to drain a target of their stamina.
- Hymn of Strengthening: Kargalgan was able to buff himself or a selected target in strength.
- Hymn of the Blazing Fire: Kargalgan was able to shoot off a wave of fireballs.
- Hymn of the Fire Dragon: Kargalgan was able to morph his hood into the shape of a dragon's mouth and from there, spit a massive beam of fire from his mouth.
- Possession: Kargalgan was able to possess his minions and speak through them.

- Kargalgan's brief mental breakdown is a foreshadowing of the existence of Monarchs.
- Kargalgan in the webcomic did not fought using his barehands but in the anime, he did.
