Yuri Orloff (유리 오를로프)[1] was a Russian S-Rank Hunter who specialized in support magic, specifically in barriers.
Appearance
Orloff was an obese middle-aged man with green eyes, messy brown hair, a beer belly, and a thick beard.[2] During the events of the Tokyo Crisis, he was dressed in light green armor with brown trims. When using his powers, his eyes glowed teal.
Personality
Orloff was an arrogant and overconfident individual with a constant craving for both attention and booze. He was also very exploitative and demanded an outrageous payment of $10M USD a day for his services, knowing full well that the Japanese government would not be able to turn him down due to the heavy losses that they took from the 4th Jeju Island Raid.[3]
However, despite his ego, Orloff was at least somewhat aware of his limits and admitted that there was a more capable hunter than himself who deserved the title of the man who single-handedly brought down a S-Rank Gate.[4]
In the revised timeline, Yuri appears to have remained the same personality wise. Though apparently more ambitious in coveting power and prestige. He also appears to not have any reservations of killing those he deems threats to his authority as evidence when he was willing to use assassination to kill the former Russian prime minister and even a hunter supposedly of similar ability to him.
History
Double Dungeon Arc
When a S-Rank Gate suddenly spawned in Tokyo, Japan, Orloff was one of the first foreign hunters who Reiji Sugimoto decided to reach out to assist in containing the threat.[2]
At a meeting with Reiji of the Draw Sword Guild he offered to block off the gate in exchange for a ridiculous fee of $10M USD a day. Yuri knew full well on how the Japanese Hunter's guild was short-handed after the Jeju Island Raid. He insisted that the price was cheap in comparison to what Thomas Andre would have charged. After a demonstration of his barriers, against two Reiji's associates, the deal was quickly accepted.[3]
Japan Crisis Arc
When the dungeon break finally occurred, Orloff activated his signature barrier, but a massive giant emerged from the gate and cleaved it in two with a single swing of its sword. Orloff then desperately attempted to re-activate his barrier, but before he could, another giant tossed him into the air and swallowed him whole.[5]
Ragnarok
After the Rulers used the Cup of Reincarnation one last time on Jinwoo's request, Yuri was revived and lost all his memories of the original timeline.
In the revised timeline, two years after the Great Cataclysm, Yuri regained his powers as a hunter. He used his powers to erect mana barriers around every major urban city, protecting them from magic beasts in his homeland, elevating himself as Minister of National Defense.
This earned him high praise from his country, and even more when he became the new prime minister, in less than a half a year. However Yuri’s rise to power had sinister overtones as it was an open secret that the hunter had assassinated the former Russian Prime Minister. Not only that but he had the nation’s president act as his puppet, making Russia totally under his control.
When China leaked a video of Sung Suho summoning his shadow army in India, Yuri took an interest in the new Hunter, believing the young man was able to summon multiple summons by using a similar method of drawing mana from an external source. The Russian Hunter then began contemplating on whether it would be more beneficial to kill Suho or allow him to live.[6]

Abilities
As a S-Rank mage, Orloff was exceptionally skilled in casting barriers. His powers were also potent enough to allow him to sense Sung Il-Hwan's presence, although he was not able to pinpoint the latter's exact location. Also, since Orloff specialized in defense and not offense, he was not much of a fighter.
- Barrier Magic: Orloff was able to creating a magical barrier that could completely restrain both Kanae and Hoshino from moving. He was also capable of making it self-sufficient and large enough to the point that it could completely block off a S-Rank Gate, although doing so required over 100,000 tons of mana crystals. However, it was not strong enough to hold up against the giants in Tokyo, as one of them managed to destroy it in a single strike.
